City prog celebrates 99th birth anniv of Sri Sathya Sai Baba

SHILLONG, Nov 24: The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO), Meghalaya, celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Baba with grandeur at Prasanthi Sadhana Nilayam, Shillong.
As part of a global network present in over 120 countries and all Indian states, the organisation upholds the principles of “Love All, Serve All” and interfaith harmony.
According to a statement here, the day commenced with Nagar Sankirtan at 5:20 am, which was followed by Vedam Path and spiritually enriching bhajans led by the Jhalupara and Nongmynsong Bhajan Mandalis, alongside Jai Mata Di Parivar and Art of Living Meghalaya.
The event drew a large number of devotees, fostering unity in faith and service.
A key highlight of the celebration was Narayana Seva, where food was distributed to over 800 people.
Further, as part of the celebrations, meals were provided at the Ananda Marga School orphanage in Nongmynsong.
During the programme, district president of SSSSO Meghalaya, Hemango Kishore Dutta, shared an overview of the organisation’s impactful initiatives over the past year.
Looking forward to the centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s birth anniversary in 2025, Dutta outlined plans to expand Narayana Seva to reach more underprivileged communities, launch initiatives under Gram Seva for sustainable village development and conduct additional Sadhana Camps to strengthen spiritual practices and community unity.
He also emphasised efforts to enhance environmental sustainability through extensive plantation drives and implement youth empowerment programmes focused on education and service.
