Book exploring Khasi belief system launched

SHILLONG, Dec 5: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday released the book A Sociological Study of the Khasi Religion in the presence of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Pyniaid Sing Syiem.
The book, authored by Dr Sharalyne Khyriemmujat and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing House, explores the traditional Khasi belief system, Ka Niam Khasi.
The book’s foreword was written by the Syiem of Hima Khyrim.
During the launch, the chief minister congratulated Dr Khyriemmujat on her achievement and commended her scholarly work on documenting and analysing the Khasi religion from a sociological perspective.
Dr Khyriemmujat, an assistant professor and the Head of the Sociology Department at Shillong College, expressed her gratitude to the chief minister for releasing her book and to the CEM for supporting the publication.
It may be mentioned that the author had completed her PhD from North-Eastern Hill University on the topic ‘A Sociological Study of Ka Niam Khasi’.
