Awareness prog for fish farmers in city

Shillong, Dec 10: Around 50 participants benefited from a one-day awareness programme organised to educate fish farmers on different government schemes available under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Government of India.
The programme held at the Directorate of Fisheries here on Monday was attended by officials from The National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHATT), Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engeneering Training (CIFNET), National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), State Fisheries Department, Fish Farmers, representatives from Fish Farmers Producers Organisations (FFPOs), Fisheries Cooperative Society, women farmers and others.
Director of Fisheries A L Mawlong appreciated the efforts of the Department of Fisheries, the Government of India and the National Fish Development Board.
She encouraged the participants to come up with enhancing fish production in the state by availing benefits from different schemes viz. PMMSY, PMMKSSY, FIDF, KCC, Entrepreneurship model, Aquaculture Insurance, GAIS etc. for enhancing fish production.
