Tura, Dec 11: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) led by Tengsak on Wednesday urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to take steps to extend the deadline for submission of scholarship forms of students.

In their appeal made to the Chief Minister, the union informed that the main hurdle was the acquisition of Income Certificate which unlike before can now only be acquired from Deputy Commissioners or Block Development  Officers.

“The students have to attend their classes as well as apply for the certificate because of which they are not able to obtain it with ease as the process of applying and issuance takes time. According to our sources more than 24,000 students have not been able to fill up the form. Keeping this in mind for the general good of the students , we would like you to extend the date,” it said.
