Shillong, Dec 21: In a high-scoring encounter of the Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024-25, Shillong Sixers registered a commanding 88-run victory over FSB. Winning the toss, the Sixers opted to bat first and posted an imposing total of 238/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Amit Meinam was the star of the show, smashing a scintillating 116 off just 54 balls, including several boundary-laden strokes that left the FSB bowlers struggling. He was well-supported by Sandeep, who contributed a quickfire 58 off 23 balls. Among the FSB bowlers, Mehraf Hussain delivered an impressive spell, picking up 3 wickets for 26 runs in his 4 overs. Mithun Paul also chipped in with 2 wickets but conceded 64 runs in his quota.In response, FSB’s batting lineup faltered under the scoreboard pressure, managing only 150/9 in 20 overs. Subajit Das top-scored with 21 runs off 21 balls, while Mithun Paul added 16 runs off 17 balls. For the Sixers, Mukesh bowled an excellent spell, taking 3 wickets for just 23 runs in 4 overs. Evert Mawiong was equally effective, picking up 2 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs.
Amit Meinam’s explosive century earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award.The second match of the day saw Momentum cruise to a massive 167-run victory over Matadors in a one-sided affair. Matadors won the toss and chose to field first, but Momentum’s batsmen took full advantage of the conditions, amassing 200 all out in 19.4 overs.
Pritam and Wansuklang Shullai were the key contributors with the bat, scoring 52 off 32 balls and 51 off just 20 balls, respectively. On the bowling front, Matadors’ Anthony and Om Chettri managed to pick up 2 wickets each, conceding 25 runs apiece.
Chasing 201 for victory, Matadors’ batting lineup crumbled under relentless pressure from the Momentum bowlers. They were bundled out for a paltry 33 in just 8.4 overs. Adrian was the only batter to score more than 5 runs, managing 6 off 5 balls. Momentum’s Jied L Nongpyuir was devastating, taking 2 wickets in just 4 deliveries without conceding a single run. Wansuklang Shullai’s all-round performance, which included his blistering 51 runs and a wicket, earned him the Player of the Match honours.
