Govt invites tenders for Rs 27.5 cr Dawki riverfront project

SHILLONG, Dec 27: The state government has invited tenders for the development of the Umngot riverfront in Dawki.
As per the tender document, the approximate value of work is Rs 27.5 crore.
The scope of work includes construction of trails with pathway, buildings for amenities, a pedestrian bridge, and utility buildings including civil, electrical and plumbing works.
The time of completion for the project is 2 years.
The Umngot river carries the tag of being one of India’s cleanest rivers due to its crystal clear waters.
The place has also become of the most prominent tourist spots in recent times.
The Umngot river carves the valley that splits the Khasi and Jaintia Hills and flows into the plains of Bangladesh. The river meanders through stirring landscapes that have lately become a hotspot for adventure seekers.
The three main destinations on the Umngot include the border town of Dawki, known for its iconic bridge and intimate views of the neighbouring country and the two resort villages of Darrang and Shnongpdeng.
