SHILLONG, Dec 27: As part of the Reserve Bank of India’s 90th anniversary celebrations, a town hall meeting was recently held in the state capital to honour the RBI’s rich history, achievements and contributions to India’s economic growth and development.
According to a statement here, the meeting, which was an initiative to engage with stakeholders, promote financial inclusion and encourage innovation in the financial sector, was attended by senior officials from the state government, NABARD, State Bank of India, Meghalaya Rural Bank, Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank and other banks, along with state-level functionaries.
On the occasion, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, P. Vasudevan, who was the chief guest, delivered a keynote address on ‘Digital Public Infrastructure and its Role in Fostering Financial Inclusion’.
He emphasised the significance of digital public infrastructure in advancing financial inclusion and outlined RBI’s efforts in this domain.
On the other hand, General Manager and Office-in-Charge of RBI, Shillong, Olden Nongpluh, provided an overview of the RBI’s 90 years of achievements.
Meanwhile, presentations on topics related to digitisation and financial inclusion were delivered by the Deputy General Manager of RBI, General Manager of NABARD and Assistant General Manager of SBI.
