SHILLONG, Dec 29: The Central Agricultural University, Umroi, has succumbed to the pressure of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), reinstating the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Science (CPGSAS) Umiam centre to conduct the written examination for the posts of LDC, UDC, and FCLA.
In a letter to the KSU, the Dean of the University, D Thakuria, stated, “…for the convenience of candidates from Meghalaya, the CPGSAS Umiam centre has been reinstated to conduct the written examination for the posts of LDC, UDC, and FCLA scheduled for January 3 and 4, 2025.”
Thakuria also informed the Union that a press notice regarding the reinstatement has already been published in The Shillong Times (December 27, 2024). Other newspapers have also been approached to publish the same.
Members of the KSU stated that their intervention has borne fruit, as the Dean and the university authorities have heeded their demand to conduct the examination at Umiam.
The KSU had earlier expressed strong opposition to relocating the examination outside the state.
