Who is Adarsh Singh?
Adarsh was born on February 11, 2012. He began his educational journey at Kendriya Vidyalaya Khammam, which is located in the Hyderabad region. He studied there till standard II, where he laid the foundation of his academic life. Known for his curiosity and love for learning, Adarsh excelled in his early years at Kendriya Vidyalaya Khammam, enjoying a blend of academics and extracurricular activities.
From Class III onwards, Adarsh moved to Kendriya Vidyalaya Umroi Cantt, Meghalaya. At KV Umroi Cantt, Adarsh continues his studies, benefiting from the school’s strong emphasis on overall development and providing a nurturing environment for students to thrive. To know a little more about the young writer, an informal conversation shed light on his creative pursuits and the person that Singh is. Excerpts:
Q: Hi Adarsh. Publishing 6 books at standard VIII is not an easy task. How did you manage this?
A: Honestly, it was a challenging journey. Balancing schoolwork and writing required a lot of dedication and planning. I made use of my free periods at school and any free time at home to focus on writing. Whenever I got an idea, I would jot it down immediately and develop it further during my writing sessions. Over time, I realised the key was consistency. Instead of waiting for long stretches of free time, I used even small breaks productively. My passion for writing kept me going despite the hurdles.
Q: What motivated you to write these books?
A: Writing has always been my way of expressing emotions, thoughts, and ideas. I believe everyone has a unique story to tell, and through my books, I wanted to share mine. The thought that my words could inspire, comfort, or guide someone gave me the motivation to keep going. Also, I wanted to encourage people, especially students like me, to embrace their challenges and believe in their potential.
Q: How did you manage writing these while also studying and handling the pressures of being a student?
A: It was not easy, but I learned to manage my time effectively. I created a schedule where academics came first, but I reserved time for writing as well. Writing, for me, was like a form of relaxation and self expression. On some days, when the workload was heavy, I had focused solely on studies, but I made sure to come back to writing as soon as possible. Instead of feeling like an additional task, writing became something I looked forward to, a reward for completing my responsibilities.
Q: The common themes among your books are hope, self-introspection, improvement, and hard work. Whom are these addressed to? Do you have a specific audience?
A: My books are primarily written for young readers, especially students like me, who often face a variety of challenges, from academic pressures to self-doubt. Through my books, I want to tell them that they are not alone, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed at times. The themes of hope and perseverance are universal, and I aim to reach anyone who might be looking for motivation or clarity in their lives. Ultimately, I hope my books resonate with readers of all ages and inspire them to keep striving for their goals.
Q: What pushed you to write all these books? Do they have any personal lessons from your own life?
A: The biggest push came from my desire to share my perspective with others. Every story or theme in my books reflects either a personal experience or a lesson I have learned along the way. For example, there is a story inspired by the time I struggled with a science project but eventually succeeded through teamwork and perseverance. I think these real-life connections make my writing more authentic and relatable. I wanted to show that even ordinary experiences can carry extraordinary lessons.
Q: Who is your favorite author(s)?
A: My favorite author is J.K. Rowling. Her ability to create such a vivid and magical world through the Harry Potter series is incredibly inspiring. Her storytelling has taught me the importance of creating characters and stories that readers can truly connect with. I also admire authors like Ruskin Bond for their simplicity and heartfelt narratives.
Q: Apart from writing, what are some of your other interests in life?
A: Apart from writing and reading, I have a keen interest in science and technology. I love experimenting with science projects and learning about new innovations. I also enjoy playing chess as it helps me develop focus and strategy. These interests keep me engaged and allow me to explore different aspects of my personality.
Q: What are your future plans?
A: My dream is to study Computer Science at IIT Bombay. I want to blend my creative thinking with technology to work on projects that can bring about positive change. Writing will always remain an integral part of my life, and I hope to continue publishing books that inspire and connect with readers worldwide. My ultimate goal is to make a meaningful contribution to society, whether through my work in technology or through my writing.
