TURA, Jan 12: After a section of parents of the Janapriya Higher Secondary School, Bholarbitha in West Garo Hills opposed the advertisement for vacant post issued by the school recently, claiming that the move was being made by vested interests for their own monetary gains, another group of parents have come forward to laud the move stating that the opposition is being made by “anti-development and anti-education” parents and guardians.
Earlier, those opposing the advertisement had claimed that the school managing committee (SMC) was formed not for the interest of the school but for their own monetary gains by illegally filling up the vacant posts. The ‘so-called parents’ went on to allege that the school authority was asking huge amounts of money from aspiring candidates in return for their appointment.
Condemning the opposition to the move for fresh recruitment, the second group has countered the allegations in their letter to the District School Education Officer (DSEO) on Sunday.
“We are aware of the complaint made by the anti-social group. Their allegation of corruption against the managing committee is unfounded and appears to be driven by ulterior motives. We are thankful to the concerned authorities for enabling the constitution of the SMC after a long time. The complaint is merely an attempt by so-called parents to delay the appointment of deserving teachers, which can harm the quality of education provided by the school,” the second group said, in the counter complaint.
The counter complaint, while demanding the immediate advertisement as well as the recruitment of qualified teachers, also sought that the alleged ‘politically motivated move’ by the first group be dismissed outright.
The complaint also sought action against those responsible for the misleading complaint.
