Motorists abandon bike after chase
In the wee hours of January 11, police, during a checking at Wahkoh area under Umkinag PPP in East Jaintia Hills, signalled two motorcycles to stop. However, the motorists sped away and later abandoned the motorcycles, one with the registration number AS-11C-0711 and the other without a registration plate, and fled away. The motorcycles have been kept at Umkiang PPP for safe custody.

Two-wheelers stolen
Gorind Prasad lodged a complaint that on January 9, miscreant(s) stole a motorcycle (ML-05AD-1010) from New Kench’s Trace, Laban. However, the next day, the stolen motorcycle was tracked through the GPS fitted in the motorcycle at Saparijala, Tripura.
Vicky Lynshing lodged a complaint that between January 9 and 10, miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-05AE-2088) from his residential premises at Laitkor, Shillong.
Richard Japang lodged a complaint that on January 10 night, miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (AS-01-1182) from Iewduh, Shillong.
Liush Marak lodged a complaint that on January 11, his scooter (ML-13A-6987) was found missing from Resubelpara, North Garo Hills.

Inebriated man threatens couple
A resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 11 night, a male resident of the same locality, in an inebriated condition, physically and verbally abused him and his wife and also threatened them with dire consequences.

2 women carrying contraband held
On January 11, around 1 pm, police conducted checking in Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills, and apprehended a woman, identified as Esther Vunghoihching (37), who was travelling in a vehicle (ML-05AC-2916). Police recovered 25 pouches containing 200 contraband tablets in each pouch from her possession. Later, they also recovered another 25 pouches containing 200 contraband tablets in each pouch from the possession of another woman, identified as Nianenciin (45), who was travelling in the same vehicle.

Extortion
President, All Garo Hills Archery Association, Tura, West Garo Hills, lodged a complaint against several members of A’chik Indigenous Sports Institute (AISI), for forcibly collecting Rs 200 per counter per day from his archery counters, since January 10, 2025, and also for threatening his employees (agents) with dire consequences, if they failed to comply with their demands.

A male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on Jan 9, he was cheated of Rs. 1.03 lakh while attempting to purchase used electronic drum set, online, through and online music app called ‘Bajaao Connect App’.
