SHILLONG, Jan 15: Sitting HSPDP MDC from Mawkynrew, Martle N. Mukhim, on Wednesday announced that he will not contest the upcoming district council elections due to health concerns.
Mukhim, a former MLA, shared this decision during a meeting with his leaders and supporters at Maw-u-Sam village near Smit.
Addressing the gathering, he stated that his priority is to focus on his health as he is currently undergoing treatment in Guwahati.
During the meeting, a special committee was formed to decide on a new candidate to contest in his place.
It may be recalled that the HSPDP had declared Mukhim as its official candidate for the Mawkynrew constituency on December 20. Mukhim previously served as an Executive Member (EM) in the UDP-led Executive Committee.
