SHILLONG, Jan 20: Chairman of the State Planning Board, Metbah Lyngdoh, has downplayed his absence from the recent Cabinet Retreat programme in Sohra, where the entire administration gathered to discuss Meghalaya’s roadmap. Lyngdoh stated that the State Planning Board operates independently. “We have nothing to do with the Cabinet, which has around 12 members,” he said.
Historically, the chairman of the Planning Board has never been a cabinet member, Lyngdoh stated.
He emphasised that the Planning Board recommends long-term developmental plans and policies. When asked about the traffic menace, Lyngdoh replied that the Planning Board is addressing this issue and will convene another meeting soon.
