Key Congress, TMC leaders shift to NPP in Jirang

NONGPOH, Jan 21: The National People’s Party (NPP) in Jirang constituency has gained momentum following the joining of key leaders from the Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the upcoming MDC elections, scheduled for February 21.
A meeting to welcome these leaders was held in two locations — Nongthymmai Byrnihat and 13 Mer Tamulkuchi. The new members were officially welcomed by Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and the party’s candidate for the upcoming MDC elections. Congress leaders who joined the NPP at Nongthymmai Byrnihat event include Abraham Sangma, adviser of the Jirang Block Congress Committee (JBCC); Markus Sangma, vice president of the JBCC; Bijoy Ronghang, joint secretary of the JBCC; and other party officials and members.
Similarly, at the meeting in 13 Mer Tamulkuchi, TMC leaders who joined the NPP included Jamilson Sangma, president of the Jirang Block TMC, along with other office-bearers and members, as well as leaders and supporters of the Congress.
Local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun expressed his gratitude and happiness over the decision of these leaders and supporters to join the NPP, acknowledging their enthusiasm and determination to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming district council elections.
