Diplomats from 73 countries to take dip in Sangam

Mahakumbh Nagar, Jan 25: Diplomats from 73 countries, including the ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine, are coming here for the first time to take a dip in the Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand has confirmed that the diplomats are coming on February 1. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also written a letter to the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh regarding this, saying diplomats from countries including Japan, USA, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Netherlands, Cameroon, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland and Bolivia will attend Maha Kumbh, Anand added. Dense fog at Kolkata airport delays 53 flights

Kolkata, Jan 25: Dense fog disrupted operations at the Kolkata airport on Saturday, delaying at least 53 flights, an official said. It was the third consecutive day of flight operations being disrupted at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport due to fog. Flight movement was affected from 6.26 am to 12.10 pm at the airport, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said. (PTI)

Cops destroy 150 acres of illegal poppy cultivation

Chaibasa, Jan 25: West Singhbhum district police has destroyed illegal poppy cultivation in over 150 acres of land, an officer said on Saturday. Around 91 acres of illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed under Bandgaon police station limit of the district followed by 40.60 acres in Tebo police station limit, Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said. Illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed in over 14 acres of land in Toklo police station limit and 5.2 acres of illegal poppy cultivation destroyed under Karaikela police station limit, the SP said. Nine held in illegal kidney transplantation racket

Hyderabad, Jan 25: Nine people were arrested in connection with an alleged illegal kidney transplantation racket at a private hospital, the police said on Saturday. The case was registered on January 21 following a complaint from a health department official. According to a police release, teams from the Rachakonda Commissionerate, in coordination with the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) of Ranga Reddy district, busted the racket on January 21 based on credible information. The operation targeted the hospital’s management, which was allegedly involved in conducting illegal kidney transplants at Saroor Nagar. (PTI)
