Shillong, Feb 1: Laitkynsew CC, Cricket Smit secure victories in their respective matches in The 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024 on Saturday.
Match 1: Saitsohpen vs Laitkynsew CC
In the opening match, Laitkynsew CC won the toss and chose to bowl first. Saitsohpen posted a total of 142/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Ricky Surong was the standout performer, top-scoring with 55 runs off 56 balls. Kesper Malngiang was the pick of the bowlers for Laitkynsew CC, claiming 2 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing a target of 143, Laitkynsew CC managed to reach 144/7 in 18.5 overs, securing a 3-wicket victory. Mortician Malngiang led the chase with a vital 41 runs off 36 balls.
Banrapborlang Pyngrope shone with the ball for Saitsohpen, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs.
Laitkynsew CC won by 3 wickets, with Mortician Malngiang being named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Match 2: Marbisu CC vs Cricket Smit
In the second match, Cricket Smit won the toss and opted to bowl. Marbisu CC posted a modest total of 116/5 in 20 overs, with Rohan Rai contributing a steady 34 runs off 45 balls. Nikodomas Lyngwa was the star with the ball for Cricket Smit, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs.
In response, Cricket Smit chased down the target comfortably, scoring 117/3 in just 13.1 overs.
Nikodomas Lyngwa again played a crucial role, top-scoring with 44 runs off 35 balls. Shailester Warjri was the most successful bowler for Marbisu CC, taking 1 wicket for 13 runs in 2 overs.

Kynta, Sirdar of Elaka Saitsohpen Sirdarship, in the presence of the executive committee of the Durbar Shnong Elaka Saitsohpen, members of the Seng Samla Saitsohpen, former cricketers from the Sohra region, and members from the District Association.
