Shillong, Feb 8: The seventh day of the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organized by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, saw dominant performances from Laitkynsew CC and Marbisu CC in their respective matches.
Laitkynsew CC set a competitive total after winning the toss and opting to bat first against Rangshken ACC. They posted 142/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with Jesper Malngiang anchoring the innings with a steady 37 off 37 balls. Rangshken ACC’s Kisstar Janong was economical with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4-over spell.In response, Rangshken ACC struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 94 in 18.1 overs. Kyrmenskhem Nongrum showed some resistance with a quick 32 off 18 balls, but it wasn’t enough to chase down the target. Larikupar Malngiang starred with the ball for Laitkynsew CC, picking up 3 wickets for 31 runs in his four overs, earning him the Player-of-the-Match award. Laitkynsew CC secured a comprehensive 48-run victory.In the day’s second fixture, Marbisu CC won the toss and chose to field first against Mawryngkneng CC. Their bowlers made early inroads, restricting Mawryngkneng CC to 99 all out in 18.2 overs. Moonlight War was the top scorer with 18 off 15 balls. The standout performer with the ball was Ramesh Rai, who delivered an impressive spell, taking 4 wickets for just 13 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing a modest target, Marbisu CC reached 100/4 in 17.3 overs, with Ramesh Rai contributing significantly with the bat as well, scoring 35 off 23 balls. Wankitlang Nongpluh tried to slow the chase with figures of 2/14 in 4 overs, but Marbisu CC comfortably sealed the win by six wickets. Ramesh Rai was named Player-of-the-Match.
