SHILLONG, Feb 16: The police arrested three persons while they were trying to steal a two-wheeler in the city on Saturday.
Police informed that vigorous patrolling is being carried out to check crime in the city, and on Saturday morning the patrolling team came across the gang of three attempting to steal a two-wheeler (ML O5 AC 8352) by cutting and joining the ignition wire in Keating Road.
One of the gang members Ribellang Phyllei (25) of Laskein in West Jaintia Hills was arrested from the spot while two of them managed to flee. However, with quick action by the police, the other two identified as Empyrkhat Dhar (21) and Steven Syngkon (19) were intercepted at the Mawryngkneng checkpoint. Two helmets, two plastic bottles filled with petrol, two sets of screwdrivers, one set of spanners of different sizes, an Allen Wrench, a T-Hand Hex key, a T-Handle Torx Key, cash of Rs 6100 besides three mobile phones were recovered from their possession, the police said.
