TURA, Feb 18: Social activist from Tura Flaming B Marak on Tuesday sought the reviewing of additional ‘mouzas’ number V to X, currently being exercised by the GHADC, as well as their revocation and recall from being implemented in all the districts of Garo Hills.
Marak made the demand in separate letters issued to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and the concerned EM of the GHADC.
“The GHADC has been issuing land pattas to government departments, corporations, companies and to individuals including to non-tribals in the entire district of Garo Hills on grounds that it has the power to issue the same in lands which fall under mouza number V to X. This is illegal and the implementation of the said mouzas should be revoked,” Flaming said, in his complaint.
Marak, while pointing out that there are only IV mouzas in Garo Hills since the inception of the GHADC, said that it does not have the power to add additional mouzas or operate them.
