SHILLONG, March 1: The Department of English and Communication Studies successfully hosted a two-day National Seminar on “Contemporary Trends in Studies of English Literature and English Language” recently.
The seminar opened with an inaugural session by Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Education, Vijay Kumar Mantri as the chief guest, and Dr Alicia Gatphoh, Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University Meghalaya, as the guest of honour.
The event featured thought-provoking keynote addresses by two eminent scholars — Professor Anita Tamuli, Retired Professor of Gauhati University, and Professor Rakhee Kalita Moral of Cotton University.
The core theme of the seminar revolved around the dynamic nature of literature and language, emphasizing their constant evolution in response to contemporary realities. It provided a platform for scholars, educators, and students to engage in meaningful discussions about the shifting paradigms of English literature and language education in the 21st century.
