NEIGRIHMS celebrates annual day, graduation ceremony

SHILLONG, March 5: The 15th Annual Day as well as the graduation ceremony for MBBS and nursing students of NEIGRIHMS was celebrated with pride and joy here on Wednesday. Dean of NEIGRIHMS, Prof Animesh Mishra congratulated the graduates and asked them to incorporate empathy in their future medical profession. Mishra also administered the physician’s pledge to the medical students.
Meanwhile, NEIGRIHMS Director Prof Nalin Mehta emphasised the importance of leaders in providing best of platforms for the future medical professionals. Mehta congratulated the graduates and expressed his confidence that they will serve the nation in future with best of healthcare practices.
The function was graced by Padma Shri awardee and eminent urologist, Padma Shri Mahendra Bhandari, the CEO of the Vattikuti Foundation. Bhandari was conferred with the prestigious India Gandhi Oration.
He delivered a talk on ‘Future of Surgery’.
In his oration, he ignited the young mind with futuristic approach of combining artificial intelligence and predicative models in redefining the surgeries and medical treatments.
Addressing the students after the oration Prof. Bhandari advised the graduates to be confident and transform the world with knowledge by directing the energy in consistent and selfless fashion.
Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati, Prof Ashok Puranik, served as the guest of honour.
Bhandari along with Puranik and other dignitaries conferred scrolls to the newly graduated medical and nursing students.
The chief guest also awarded various prizes for the academic and scientific events which were held as a part of annual day celebration.
