SHILLONG, March 11: Renowned Khasi filmmaker Wanphrang K Diengdoh’s latest film, The Blood and the Border, will be screened at Portland Hall in London, the United Kingdom, on March 14. The film is supported by a grant from Meghalayan Age and represents the culmination of Diengdoh’s trilogy exploring Khasi society in Meghalaya.
This trilogy offers a comprehensive re-examination of Khasi identity, history, and socio-political themes. Preceding The Blood and the Border, the series includes Because We Did Not Choose (2017), which delves into the experiences of indigenous labourers during World War I and their encounters with modernity, and Where the Clouds End, which explores issues of race, purity, insider-outsider politics, belonging, and the impact of the international border.
