The scheme will be funded through the MHIS state corpus fund, comprising refunded MHIS funds generated by public hospitals and additional budgetary support as and when required.
The scheme will benefit individuals who have exhausted their MHIS-PMJAY coverage or require financial support for treatments not covered under existing packages.
However, state and central government employees and their eligible dependents will not be able to avail benefits under the Scheme.
At the district level, a committee headed by the deputy  commissioner will approve cases up to Rs 2 lakh while at the state level, a high-level committee chaired by the Chief Executive Officer, State Nodal Agency, would approve cases above Rs 2 lakh and up to Rs 5 lakh.
All the cases shall be approved through e-proposal system for which the Chief Minister’s Office will accord the necessary approval based on recommendation of the committees at the district and state levels.
The funds shall be provided directly to the institution providing treatment against the cost of treatment and the notification would come into effect from next month.
