SHILLONG, March 12: NESO chairman Samuel Jyrwa on Wednesday emphasised the need for comprehensive policies to safeguard the various indigenous tribes of the Northeast.
Speaking to a news channel in Arunachal Pradesh, Jyrwa urged the Centre to implement stringent border protection policies to curb illegal immigration, which he said poses a significant threat to the socio-political fabric of the region.
Meanwhile, the NESO chairman also announced a new initiative to support UPSC aspirants as part of efforts to empower the youth of the Northeast.
According to Jyrwa, NESO will sponsor coaching scholarships for two deserving candidates from each Northeastern state to help them prepare for the civil service examinations.
He stated that the initiative aims to enhance the region’s representation in the civil services.
