Nongpoh, March 13: Deity Majaw, the newly elected VPP MDC representing Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency, sustained injuries after the vehicle she was travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a drain along National Highway 6 at Quinine, Ri-Bhoi.
Ri-Bhoi police have informed that the incident occurred around 11 pm on March 8.
Interestingly, videos recordings have revealed empty beer bottles inside the vehicle, which has been kept at Nongpoh police station, leaving room for speculations of a drunk driving case.
Police sources stated that the incident occurred while the VPP MDC was en route to Shillong in a car bearing the registration number ML05 S1130.
The vehicle was driven by Aldoly Mawthoh from Malki Pdengshnong, accompanied by another passenger identified as Geoffrey Pohlong, who also sustained injuries in the accident.
Following the incident, both the MDC and the injured passenger were immediately rushed to Bethany Hospital Outreach in Nongpoh before the arrival of the police, for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to a more advanced medical facility for further treatment.
