NONGPOH, March 26: Preparations are in full swing for the annual Shad Sajer festival, a traditional dance and ritual celebration observed by the people of Raid Nongpoh.
Scheduled to take place at Lum Wyrtoh on Saturday, the event aims to uphold and showcase the community’s rich cultural heritage.
Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh (traditional head) of Raid Nongpoh, Linus Lyngdoh, highlighted the significance of Shad Sajer, emphasising its role in preserving ancestral traditions and celebrating the unique heritage of the people.
Alongside traditional music and dance performances, the festival will feature indigenous games such as tug-of-war and bamboo climbing. Additionally, local food stalls will offer a variety of traditional delicacies.
