POCSO court awards 25-yr jail term to man

SHILLONG, April 11: The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, has convicted one Androdsing Mawthoh in connection with a POCSO case registered at Madanrting Police Station.
The court, which delivered the judgment on April 3, sentenced him under various sections of the POCSO Act and IPC.
According to the order, Mawthoh has been awarded 25 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 50,000, and in default, an additional six months in prison, for the offence under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
Further, he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000 for an offence punishable under Section 4 of the POCSO Act. In default of payment, he is to undergo an additional four months of imprisonment.
For an offence punishable under Section 8 of the POCSO Act, the court sentenced him to three years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, with an additional two months of imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
Lastly, under Section 10 of the POCSO Act, Mawthoh was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000, and in default, an additional three months in prison.
It may be mentioned that the case was investigated by WP/SI K. Kumari, who is currently posted at CID Meghalaya, Shillong.
