Summer, are you lost?
Just when we thought we’d finally get to sun bask, and sun bathe, and wear nice sundresses, out came the rain like it was aware of our plans, and wanted us to stay put in blankets and sweaters.
While the rest of India is roasting and rage-wearing linen and crop tops, Shillongites are still reaching for their sweaters and socks. Summer in Shillong feels more like a confused guest who shows up fashionably late… and then leaves without saying goodbye.
The sun peeks out just long enough to tempt us into optimism, and then it is back to clouds, drizzle, and frizzed-out hair. It’s like nature itself doesn’t want us to dress cute. At this point, we’ve all got one question, Summer, are you coming, or should we just go back to layering like it’s October?
Bass trouble on quiet streets
Dear drivers of Shillong with subwoofers bigger than the tiny cars itself, we get it — you love music. So do we! But blasting it down sleepy neighbourhoods at 11 PM? That’s not sharing your playlist, that’s public disturbance and nuisance. This city sleeps early, and some of us have work to go to in the wee hours of the rainy mornings, and no one wants the dreams remixed by your car stereo.
Yes, Shillong is a music capital, but even rock legends know when to turn down the volume. There’s a time and place for music marathons, and it’s not outside someone’s window at midnight.
So here’s a humble request, can we please save the loud tracks for concerts, and let the rest of us enjoy our peace; or at least a quiet bedtime scroll.
