SHILLONG, April 15: Troops of the BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, on Monday confiscated Phensedyl cough syrup meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh during a targeted operation along the International Border.
According to a statement here, the troops of the 22nd Battalion BSF, acting on specific intelligence inputs, recovered 1,730 bottles of the banned cough syrup. The consignment had been carefully concealed near the border, awaiting illegal transportation into Bangladesh.
The seized items were later handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
In a separate intelligence-based operation, troops of the 04th Battalion BSF deployed in Dawki apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals attempting to infiltrate Indian territory.
The individuals were identified during preliminary questioning as Faruk Ahmed (37) from Mymensingh, Md Samim (49) from Dhaka and Md Sushu Miya (39) from Chandpur, all residents of Bangladesh.
They were handed over to Dawki Police Station for further legal action.
