SHILLONG, April 19: The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have committed to work closely in fostering mutual trust, improving operational coordination, and maintaining peace and security along the international border.
According to a statement here, the commitment was made during a Sector Commander Level Meeting, which was held on Thursday at the BGB Border Outpost (BOP) in Bijoypur, Bangladesh.
Conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, the meeting underscored the shared resolve of both nations’ border forces to ensure stability in the region.
The discussions were led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Lalit Mohan Sharma of the BSF Tura Sector, DIG Manoj Kumar Barnwal of the Shillong Sector, and Colonel Sarker Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Sector Commander of BGB’s Mymensingh Sector.
Battalion commanders and staff officers from both sides were also part of the meeting.
“During the discussions, both sides addressed key issues including trans-border crimes, illegal infiltration, the importance of sharing real-time information, and other matters related to effective border management. Emphasis was placed on enhancing bilateral cooperation, jointly combating illegal cross-border activities, and preventing unauthorized movement along the border areas,” the statement said.
Both the BSF and BGB commanders acknowledged the necessity of addressing border-related concerns through regular dialogue and cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their dedication to strengthening ties through regular engagement and proactive collaboration.
