Kerala airport receives bomb threat
Thiruvananthapuram, April 27: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport received a bomb threat via email early Sunday, which turned out to be a hoax, police said. The email was received in the official email ID of the airport manager, they added. “As soon as the information was received, Kerala police and CISF personnel conducted a thorough check at the airport and its premises, but found nothing suspicious. The bomb threat was confirmed to be a hoax,” a police officer said. (PTI)

Two children killed in Delhi slum fire
New Delhi, April 27: Two children died and five people were injured when a massive fire gutted over 800 shanties in a jhuggi cluster in Rohini on Sunday morning, a Delhi Fire Service official said. The blaze was doused completely after firefighters worked tirelessly for three hours, he said. Charred bodies of two children — a two-and-a-half-year-old and a three-year-old — were recovered from the remains. According to DFS, the fire started from one of the huts and immediately engulfed the entire area. (PTI)

Ex-CRPF officer shoots daughter to death, injures son-in-law
Mumbai, April 27: A retired CRPF officer allegedly shot dead his daughter and seriously injured his son-in-law in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, some 400 kilometres from here, a police official said on Sunday. The incident took place during a wedding function on Saturday night in Chopda tehsil, the Jalgaon police official said. “Retired CRPF sub-inspector Kiran Mangle (50) shot dead his daughter Tripti with his revolver and seriously injured her husband Avinash. The couple had married just a year ago and were residing in Pune. They had come here for a wedding,” he said. (PTI)

Driver held for abusing minor inside school van
Thane, April 27: A 25-year-old driver has been arrested by the Navi Mumbai police for allegedly abusing a four-year-old student inside the school van, an official said on Sunday. The incident occurred on April 24 when the child was transported to the school. Upon reaching home, the child informed his parents about the actions of the van’s “uncle.” Concerned, the parents immediately approached the school principal. After verifying the child’s account, they lodged a complaint with the NRI police station. (PTI)
