‘Training of trainers’ course at city school

SHILLONG, April 27: A two-day ‘Training of Trainers (TOT) Certification Course for aspiring CBSE Resource Persons’ was organised by BDW International School, Shillong, in an initiative collaboratively designed, developed, and delivered by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India, the Institute of Secretariat Training & Management (ISTM), and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
More than 28 participants — including 10 school principals and over 18 experienced PGT and TGT teachers from reputed institutions across the region — attended the course with the aim of becoming certified trainers within the CBSE ecosystem. The TOT course focused on equipping educators with advanced skills in adult learning principles, experiential facilitation techniques, CBSE training frameworks, and classroom leadership, enabling them to contribute meaningfully as trainers at the national level.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the school auditorium, was graced by two nationally celebrated resource persons — Dr Subhrajyoti Ray, Joint Director (Personnel), Government of West Bengal, and Preeti Khatri, Assistant Secretary, CBSE, Delhi.
Dr Ray, who also serves as a National Resource Person and Consultant with the DoPT and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, addressed the gathering with profound insights into the role of educators as nation-builders.
Drawing from his experience across 17 Indian states, he emphasised the urgent need for structured leadership training within the school education system.
Preeti Khatri, renowned for her dynamic contributions to teacher empowerment through CBSE initiatives, shared her perspectives on the evolving role of educators and the necessity of adopting effective training methodologies aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Rahul Damle, Venue Director.
Principal Gayathri Natarajan highlighted the importance of equipping educators with the facilitation and leadership skills required to become certified CBSE Resource Persons.
