Ferozepur Cantonment Board carries blackout rehearsal
Ferozepur, May 4: The Ferozepur Cantonment Board has announced a 30-minute blackout rehearsal on Sunday amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The blackout rehearsal will be conducted in the cantonment area from 9 pm to 9:30 pm, according to a communication from the Ferozepur Cantonment Board to Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma. “You are requested to ensure adequate security arrangements during this period, given the total blackout. This rehearsal aims to ensure preparedness and effectiveness in implementing blackout procedures during prevailing war threats. Your support and cooperation are crucial in making this exercise successful,” the letter said. (PTI)

Man jailed for ‘pro-Pak’ comment
Etah, May 4: A man has been sent to jail in this Uttar Pradesh district for allegedly posting a comment in support of Pakistan on social media, police said. The accused, Faizan Khan, allegedly wrote “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long Live Pakistan) from one of his social media accounts. Circle Officer (CO) Gyanendra Pratap Singh said Khan, a resident of Hasangarh village in the Jalesar area, made a comment of a serious nature. He was taken into custody, interrogated and subsequently, sent to jail on Saturday, the officer said. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, he added. (PTI)

9 transgender students clear Odisha class 10 board exam
Bhadrak, May 5: Nine transgenders of a school in Odisha’s Bhadrak district have cleared the Odisha class 10 board examination. The nine transgenders including two lesbian students of Sarojini Sanskruta Vidyalaya in Boualpokhari, Charmpa under Bhadrak Municipality cleared the Class 10 exams, the results of which were announced on Friday, defying social odds and stigma to emerge victorious, said the headmaster of the school, Malayranjan Panda.

‘Ram Mandir complex to have 60% area as green cover’
Ayodhya, May 4: More than half of the Ram temple complex here will be developed as green space, prioritising environmental conservation, the temple’s trust announced on Monday. Nripendra Mishra, chairman of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, said that 60 per cent of the complex will have green cover and the entire area will adhere to a zero-discharge policy to prevent any pollution in Ayodhya city.
