Shillong, May 6: Iaishanbok Buhphang and Samborlang Langte scored hat-tricks as Meghalaya demolished Chandigarh 10-1 in the 7th Khelo India Youth Games in Begusarai, Bihar, on Tuesday.
Meghalaya’s second fixture in Group A will be against Odisha on May 8.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals.
Meghalaya, coached by Jeffrey Warlarpih, are the defending champions, having won gold at the 2024 edition of the Games in Tamil Nadu.
