Cops lodge FIR after e-mail threatens to blow up Taj Mahal
AGRA, May 25: Police have registered an FIR after the tourism department received an e-mail threatening to blow up the Taj Mahal with RDX, officials said on Sunday.The e-mail received on Saturday claimed that RDX and IED were planted inside the Taj Mahal, prompting a thorough search of the 17th-century marble mausoleum.Confirming the receipt of the threat mail, ACP in-charge of Taj security, Sayed Arib Ahmad, said, “A search operation was carried out on the premises of Taj Mahal without disturbing the tourists. An FIR has been registered in this regard. “Similar threat mails were received in Kerala. We are contacting Kerala Police on this matter.: he added.(PTI)
Teacher booked for abducting minor girl
BALLIA, (UP) May 25: A case was registered against a school teacher on Sunday for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old girl, police said.The girl, a resident of a village in the Bansdih area, was a student at a local school where the accused, identified as Salauddin, worked as a teacher, said police sources.He also used to give tuition to the girl for her high school subjects.The girl went missing on May 21 while she was reportedly on her way to attend a coaching class.Her family alleged that Salauddin abducted her and fled. Efforts are underway to rescue the girl and apprehend the accused. (PTI)
Three family members drown in Ganga
RAEBARELI, May 25:Three members of a family, including a father and son, from Amethi drowned in the Ganga river at Dalmau Ghat here on Sunday, police said.A group of nine individuals had arrived at Dalmau Ganga Ghat this morning for the ritual, police said.Four members of the group reportedly ventured into deeper water during immersion and began to drown, they said.Their companions immediately raised an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby local divers and onlookers. Swift action by the divers led to the rescue of one youth, but three individuals succumbed to the swift currents. The deceased have been identified as Chandra Kumar Kaushal (60), Balchandra Kaushal (47) and his son Aryan (17). (PTI)
Doctor arrested for taking Rs 10 lakh bribe
NEW DELHI, May 25: The CBI has arrested a senior doctor working as an assessor with the National Medical Commission (NMC) for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for issuing favourable inspection report of a private medical college, officials on Sunday said.Tapan Kumar, the head of Department of Anatomy at Murshidabad Medical College, had allegedly received the bribe to give a favourable inspection report to a medical college based in Belgavi.The CBI recovered an additional cash amount of Rs 44.6 lakh during searches at Kolkata, Bardhaman and Belgaum, the agency said in a statement on Sunday. A case was registered by the CBI against three accused including said accused, and two private persons and a private medical institute based in Belgavi.(PTI)
