SHILLONG, May 27: Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Sampath Kumar, has confirmed that 124 Covid tests have been conducted in the state, all of which returned negative results.
He expressed confidence in the state’s preparedness, stating that Meghalaya has developed a robust health system over the past five to six years, fully equipped to handle any potential surge in Covid cases. Kumar assured the public that there is no immediate cause for concern but emphasized the importance of ensuring that hospitals have all necessary protocols and resources in place.
All hospitals have been directed to identify patients showing signs of fever and test them for Covid to detect any possible presence of the virus.
A meeting of the medical expert committee was held on Monday to assess preparedness following reports of Covid cases in three states, including Maharashtra and Karnataka.
