Man strangles wife to death over suspected affair with brother
NEW DELHI, June 2: A 38-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death at their residence in outer north Delhi’s Bawana area after suspecting her of having an affair with his younger brother.Beerpal was arrested on June 1 after he allegedly murdered his wife, Phoolwati (32) by strangling her with a black scarf at their residence.A PCR call was received on Sunday evening reporting that a woman had been killed by her husband and was lying dead inside the bathroom of their house. The caller further stated that there were no visible injuries on the body.The police soon reached the house and entered the first-floor room of the house, where they found the woman lying unresponsive with her head inside the bathroom and her feet extending outside.During interrogation, Beerpal confessed that the motive behind the murder was Phoolwati’s alleged extramarital relationship with his younger brother Amit. Beerpal was arrested and a case under Section 103(1) (punishment of murder) BNS was registered.Further investigation is underway, the police said. (PTI)

Man ends life by jumping off third floor of Mumbai mall
MUMBAI, June 2: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of a mall in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar West area on Monday morning, a police official said. Deceased Deepak Haresh Joshi (38), who ended his life in the mall, was reportedly depressed, the Parksite police station official said. “He was living separately from his wife due to a dispute. He was reportedly under depression for the past few days. His body was found by security guards at the mall. His father Harish Joshi has been informed about the incident,” the official said. An accidental death report has been registered and further probe into the incident is underway, he added. (PTI)

IndiGo flight suffers bird hit, makes emergency landing
RANCHI, June 2: Around 175 passengers had a close shave after an IndiGo flight suffered a bird hit and made an emergency landing at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport on Monday, an official said.All the passengers and crew members are safe while the aircraft Airbus 320 suffered damage, he said.“An IndiGo flight suffered a bird hit near Ranchi. It was approximately 10 to 12 nautical miles away from here, at about 3,000 to 4,000 feet altitude, when the incident occurred. The IndiGo flight was coming from Patna to Ranchi, and the pilot had to make an emergency landing here,” Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, Director R R Maurya told PTI.He said all the passengers are safe, but the “aircraft suffered a dent after being hit by a vulture. Engineers are assessing the damage,” he said.The incident occurred at 1.14 pm.Another official said that the aircraft, which was coming to Ranchi, was scheduled to go to Kolkata.An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that a bird had hit the aircraft, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.The pilot followed all protocols after the bird hit the aircraft.The aircraft is grounded now, they added.
