It has also been learnt that the road project will include a couple of major bridges. The 38.256-km Shillong Western Bypass is being executed in three packages. The total cost of the 12.80-km Package 1 is Rs 620 crore, and it is being implemented by Anusha Projects Pvt Ltd and BKD Infrastructures Pvt. Meanwhile, work is also under way on the Shillong-Dawki Road, where the installation of steel girders along some stretches has begun.
It was further informed that a 50-metre steel girder will be placed near Rilbong to span a gorge in the area.
