SHILLONG, June 18: In a bid to promote the use of Hindi in official work, a ‘Hindi Workshop’ was organised for officers and employees at the Conference Room of the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Meghalaya, Shillong, on Wednesday.
According to a statement here, the workshop commenced with a welcome address by Senior Deputy Accountant General (Admn.), Dhanlaxmi Chourasia, who highlighted the importance of using practical Hindi in government communication.
“The main objective of the Hindi Workshop is to provide practice of practical Hindi used in Government work, so that the officers/employees participating in the workshops can write drafts and noting in Hindi in a basic way. It is a matter of pride for our office that as per the instructions of the Official Language Department, we are organising Hindi Workshop so that the use of Hindi in official work is encouraged and, through the workshop, we can overcome the hesitation of working in Hindi,” Chourasia said.
“Apart from this, we will also be successful in using Official Language Hindi in draft writing, letter writing, etc. Handwriting and correspondence can also be improved through workshops,” she added, expressing hope that all the participants will benefit from the workshop.
The workshop was also attended by Secretary to the Principal Accountant General PR Ryngkhlem, Senior Audit Officer Aquarius Mathew, and faculty member of Regional Director of the Central Institute of Hindi, Shillong, Prof. Parth Sarthi Pandey.
During the workshop, Prof. Pandey served as the resource person for the workshop, delivering two detailed sessions—‘Noting and Draft Writing’ in the first session and ‘Hindi Correspondence’ in the second.
Participants also engaged in practical exercises during both sessions.
A total of 15 officers and employees took part in the workshop, which concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Director (Official Language) of the Hindi Cell, Mohammad Ziaul Hoque.
