SHILLONG, July 10: In observance of Guru Purnima, the State BJP organised a series of events across the state to honour educators and spiritual leaders for their contributions to society.
State BJP leaders, including party president Rikman Momin, Cabinet Minister AL Hek, and Chief Spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang, led the celebrations by visiting and felicitating respected individuals in their respective fields. One of the key programmes was held at Raj Bhavan, where Governor CH Vijayshankar felicitated retired Principal Protima Das and senior teacher Sunita Lyngdoh of Shillong Higher Secondary School for their dedicated service to education.
The Governor also honoured Rapheal Sun for his exceptional achievements in karate at the zonal, national, and international levels, recognising his contribution in bringing pride to the state through sports.
Chief Spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang stated that the BJP’s Guru Purnima celebrations reflect the party’s commitment to acknowledging the vital role of gurus — both spiritual and academic — in shaping individuals and communities.
