Ri Bhoi and WKH shine at state skating and roll ball championships

Shillong, July 13: Two major sporting events in Meghalaya concluded successfully on Saturday, celebrating the talent and enthusiasm of young athletes from across the state.
The 4th Meghalaya Speed Skating Championship 2025 was organised by the Meghalaya Roller Skating Association in collaboration with St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School. The event saw participation from over 150 skaters representing various districts, making it one of the largest skating events in the region.Alongside, the 1st Sub-Junior and 2nd Senior Roll Ball Championship 2025 was conducted by the Meghalaya Roll Ball Association and the East Khasi Hills Roll Ball Association, also in collaboration with St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School. The tournament featured teams from four districts—Ri Bhoi, East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and West Jaintia Hills—and witnessed a series of competitive and entertaining matches across both sub-junior and senior categories.In the sub-junior boys’ category, Ri Bhoi emerged as champions, followed by East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills as first and second runners-up respectively.
In the sub-junior girls’ division, Ri Bhoi also secured the top position, with West Khasi Hills finishing second and East Khasi Hills third.
The senior boys’ title once again went to Ri Bhoi, while East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills settled for second and third place.
In the senior girls’ competition, West Khasi Hills claimed the winner’s spot, with East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi taking the next two positions.
The presence of Bah John Kharshiing, Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), added significance to the occasion, as he witnessed the culmination of two events that not only highlighted local talent but also strengthened the grassroots sporting framework in the state.
