NONGPOH, July 18: Leaders of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Ri-Bhoi Sepngi, on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Office of the Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police, calling for the immediate deployment of women police personnel at the Patharkhmah Police Station.
Speaking to media persons, HYC leader RC Thangkhiew stated that Ri-Bhoi Sepngi is a vast and populous region, and the absence of women police personnel poses serious challenges for the public, particularly when incidents involve women or children.
He asserted that the HYC strongly demands the posting of female police officers at the Patharkhmah station to ensure easier access to justice for the public and to facilitate appropriate police responses in cases related to women.
Although the delegation was unable to meet the SP, the HYC leaders said that they would continue to pursue the matter relentlessly, even if it requires taking it up with the home minister.
