SHILLONG, July 21: Altogether 13 students from Lady Keane Higher Secondary School were selected to participate in the North East Students Programme for Awareness, Reach, and Knowledge on Space (NE-SPARKS), held from June 25 to 28, under the aegis of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in collaboration with the Meghalaya government.
The NE-SPARKS aimed to expose, inspire, and ignite curiosity among students from the North Eastern Region in the field of space science and technology.
During the visit, the students toured prominent ISRO centres, including the Mission Operation Centre (MOX), Satellite Control Centre (SCC), and the Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN), witnessing firsthand India’s advancements in space technology.
They interacted with esteemed scientists and engineers, gaining valuable insights into satellite operations and deep space communication. This interaction enriched their understanding and served as a source of motivation.
The scientists encouraged the students, expressing hope that some of them would eventually join the field and contribute to India’s future space missions.
