I-Day celebrations: DPS Khanapara launches Green Campus Campaign
SHILLONG, Aug 13: Delhi Public School, Khanapara, began its Independence Day celebrations with the launch of its Green Campus Campaign on Wednesday. The event was attended by Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal as the chief guest and Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore as the guest of honour, along with Pro-Vice Chairman Ram Awtar Agarwalla and Principal Monmoyuree Borkotoky. Addressing the gathering, Baranwal commended the school’s efforts. “I am honoured and privileged to be invited to the prestigious DPS Khanapara for the Green Campus Campaign Initiative. The reason to attend this programme is that environmental consciousness is very close to my heart,” the DC said. “If we are not conscious of our actions, we are eventually contributing to the environmental demise. So by acts of commission and omission we can contribute to the larger good of our environment,” he added. Rathore, on the other hand, congratulated the school for the initiative. “It is befitting that DPS Khanapara has taken such an initiative as the school itself represents the colour green in its logo,” he said. “We as individuals, with our responsible behaviour, can contribute towards the greater good of the environment,” the SP added. The celebrations featured a short cultural presentation by students, showcasing patriotism and unity. The highlight of the day was a plantation drive within the school premises, aimed at fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Meanwhile, the school principal said, “Our goal is to create a campus where every corner breathes green, instilling in students a lifelong respect for nature.”
