Body of man who jumped off Byrnihat bridge recovered

NONGPOH, Aug 14: Three days after 27-year-old Wanphrangsngi Syiemlieh leapt from the Byrnihat bridge into the Umtrew River, his body was recovered with the help of a sand extractor from Morogdula, 14 Mile in Kamrup district of Assam.
Syiemlieh reportedly jumped into the river after an argument with friends over money earned from selling a stolen mobile phone.
The group had been consuming drugs together before the incident.
The decomposed body was taken by Byrnihat Police to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for legal formalities before being handed over to the family.
