MRWA announces talent identification programme

JOWAI, Aug 20: In preparation for the 39th National Games to be hosted by Meghalaya in 2027, the Meghalaya Rowing & Water-Sports Association (MRWA), has announced a state-wide Rowing Talent Identification Programme. The initiative aims to scout and train promising athletes who could potentially represent Meghalaya in the prestigious event.
The talent hunt is open to all residents of Meghalaya aged between 18 and 22 years. As part of the eligibility criteria, aspiring female rowers must be at least 5.5 feet tall, while male candidates must have a minimum height of 5. 7 feet. Preference will be given to individuals actively involved in any sporting discipline, with prior experience in competitive sports. Applicants must also be able to swim a minimum distance of 50 metres. The talent scout will take place in Tura on Aug 26, Nongstoin on Aug 30, Jowai on Sep 6, and in Shillong on Sep 20.
