Anthony Ippolito to play Stallone I Play Rocky
Actor Anthony Ippolito, known for starring in series The Offer as well as films like Purple Hearts and Pixels, will play a young Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming movie I Play Rocky. To be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Peter Farrelly, the film will explore the story behind Stallone’s iconic movie Rocky. Farrelly will produce the film with Toby Emmerich, the former Warner Bros. film chief, and Christian Baha, and direct from a screenplay by Peter Gamble, reported entertainment news outlet Deadline. Stallone, who was a struggling actor with a partially paralysed face and a speech impediment in the 1970s, wrote the script of the 1976 boxing drama and also headlined the movie that won three Oscars and spawned a film franchise. I Play Rocky will chronicle how Stallone wrote the film’s script that a big movie studio wanted to buy, but refused to sell it unless he gets to play the lead. (PTI)
KPop Demon Hunters likely to return with sequel
The 2025 animated musical urban fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters is likely to return for a sequel. The film, featuring the voices of Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Lee Byung-hun, follows a K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, who lead double lives as demon hunters. The group face rival boy band, the Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons. According to entertainment news outlet Variety, the film has overtaken Netflix’s Red Notice to become the most-watched film in the service’s history at more than 236 million total views. The film’s original soundtrack also featured on the Billboard Top 10. (PTI)
Winslet’s directorial debut Goodbye June to release in December
Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June is all set to hit the theatres in December. Goodbye June will be released in the US and the UK on December 12 before it begins streaming on Netflix on December 24, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Netflix UK & Ireland shared the images along with the update in the caption, ‘Kate Winslet makes her directorial debut with GOODBYE JUNE, starring Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Kate Winslet, and Helen Mirren. Coming to Netflix 24 December.’ The cast includes Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Helena Bonham Carter, Helen Mirren, Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Raza Jaffrey. Poster from Jatadhara introduces Shilpa Shirodkar in fierce tantrik look
The makers of Jatadhara, Sonakshi Sinha’s first Telugu film, have unveiled a new poster from the movie. The poster introduces actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who is best known for her appearance on Bigg Boss Season 18. In the poster, Shirodkar is seen in the role of a tantrik. She is dressed in a black saree and sits in front of a fire pit, her mouth wide open with her tongue sticking out. The makers shared the poster on Thursday with the caption: ‘She isn’t just driven by greed, she defines it. Presenting @shilpashirodkar73 as Shobha.’ The teaser of Jatadhara was released earlier this month. The one-minute-12-second clip showed Sudheer Babu as a powerful man ‘born from sacrifice,’ while Sonakshi Sinha appeared in a never-seen-before avatar as a mystical figure ‘created by greed.’ The teaser hinted at a dark supernatural clash between the two.
