Youth dies after car in TMC MLA’s convoy hits motorbike
KOLKATA, Sep 2: A man was killed after his motorbike was hit by a car in Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla’s convoy in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Tuesday, police said.The accident occurred in Bamanghata area in the morning when Molla was travelling from Bhangar to Kolkata, the officer said.The injured man was taken to the hospital in the city, where he died in the afternoon.The victim was identified as Mohammed Tajuddin, a resident of South Kolkata.The pilot car which was leading the convoy, collided with the motorcycle. The rider was thrown off and sustained serious injuries.The Canning Purba lawmaker was in a vehicle behind the pilot car. (PTI)
Man kills wife over her social media activity, attempts suicide
NEW DELHI, Sep 2: A man attempted to end his life after allegedly killing his wife following frequent clashes over her social media activity in Delhi’s Najafgarh.The victim lived with her husband, Aman (35), an e-rickshaw driver, and their two sons. The deceased woman was earlier married to Aman’s elder brother, who allegedly committed suicide. After his demise, she was married to Aman.Matters of domestic abuse have also surfaced during initial inquiry where Aman used to beat his wife for making reels and videos. On Tuesday, an argument between them escalated, and Aman allegedly strangled his wife to death. Afterwards, he attempted suicide by hanging and consuming poison. (PTI)
Punjab AAP MLA booked for rape escapes police custody
PATIALA, Sep 2: AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra on Tuesday escaped custody amid gunshots and stone pelting by his supporters after his arrest in a rape case, police said.Pathanmajra was in Dabri village in Haryana’s Karnal district, where a police team had gone to arrest him.The team conducted a raid at his residence in Haryana. He was arrested. But a group of villagers and some mischievous elements pelted stones at the police team and fired gunshots,.The Sanour MLA used the cover fire and stone pelting to escape.The case was registered on a complaint by a Zirakpur-based woman, who alleged that the MLA misrepresented himself as divorced, entered into a relationship with her, and later married in 2021 while still being married.She accused him of continued sexual exploitation, threats, and sending “obscene” material to her.
