SHILLONG, Sep 7: Meghalaya Together, a community-based organisation, celebrated its Second Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and unity at All Saint’s Hall, Shillong, on Saturday. The event brought people together from all communities in a collective spirit of unity and pride.
As part of the celebration, Meghalaya Together released its first magazine highlighting the work of the organisation. Another highlight of the day was the “Unity Feast: Breaking Bread: Building Bridges” — an ethnic food festival that showcased traditional dishes from the Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Bihari, Bengali, Nepali and Marwari communities. The multi-ethnic food fest celebrated Meghalaya’s diversity and promoted togetherness by bringing people together over shared meals and cultural experiences.
The event was graced by Frederick Kharkongor, Principal Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, as the chief guest, and Banteilang J Kharshandi, Director of School Education & Literacy, was the guest of honour. Both applauded the spirit of togetherness and cultural richness.
As part of the Unity Feast, the Nepali Stall was awarded as ‘Unique Tradition Stall’ while the Marwari Stall was awarded for ‘Unique Dish’.
