TURA, Oct 12: Several organisations from Garo Hills have come together to announce a two-day non-cooperation movement in the entire Garo Hills region on October 16 and 17, in protest against the state government’s failing to clarify the terms of the GHADC salary payment as well as the running of the Tura Medical College on PPP mode.
The non-cooperation movement on October 16 and 17 will be from 5 am to 5 pm.
The organisations, comprising the FKJGP, ADE, AYWO, FAF and GSU held an urgent meeting on the issue at Nazing Bazar in Tura, where a decision was taken to initiate necessary steps to show their disapproval.
With regard to the GHADC salary crisis, the groups, while agreeing to the proposal by the government for one time release of employees’ salaries for 12 months, are hesitant to accept the proposed payment of salaries to employees from November 1 in the absence any clarity from the government’s side.
The groups are also vehemently opposing the operation of the Tura Medical College on PPP mode.
